South African fashion designer Lezanne Viviers has recently presented her latest collection, “KARROO Land of Thirst”, at South Africa Fashion Week. Afterthought, the collection draws inspiration from the diverse landscapes of the Kairo, a semi-desert region in South Africa, with natural fabrics and local artisanal productions. What sets this collection apart is the direction and mentoring provided by Director Giornetti and POLIMODA teachers. Their guidance has helped to curate a collection that captures the essence of Kairo’s unique natural beauty.
Moreover, Viviers has restyled the collection to be stronger, sharper, and more sculptural. That is to say, new sharp tailored looks focus on form and architecture. In additon, Lezanne designed 3D-printed shoe style and conceptual jewellery complete the runway styling.
The bold terracotta hue, a solid warm winter white Pantone in direct contrast with an intense and minimal black pop, reveals the designer’s precise tailoring and sculpture design. In addition, they convey the brand’s African heritage.
The brand focuses on the sensual creation of sophisticated and rebellious garments. Designer Lezanne Viviers draws inspiration from Japanese sensibility and African beliefs. Meanwhile, she creats a unique approach to craftsmanship that blurs the line between arts and crafts.
