Time for VIVIERS’ best debut at South Africa Fashion Week: Still, stop and see now a new game-changer for the South Africa fashion industry today.

South African fashion designer Lezanne Viviers has recently presented her latest collection, “KARROO Land of Thirst”, at South Africa Fashion Week. However, the Embassy of Italy announces the third edition of “Fashion Bridges – I Ponti della Moda,”. In sort, a groundbreaking initiative, a dynamic partnership between the Italian and South Africa Fashion Week for the SA fashion industry.

Created in collaboration with Polimoda of Florence, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana – Milan (CNMI) and South African Fashion Week (SAFW), and supported by the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana, the project revolutionizes the textile machinery, wool, mohair, cotton and leather sectors. Moreover, this year, Fashion Bridges – I Ponti della Moda focuses on young talent by providing them with training, internationalization, and exposure to the latest creativity trends of both countries. As part of the project, two designers showcase their designs at SAFW in Johannesburg on April 21. Federico Cina will represent Italy, while Lezanne Viviers will showcase the best of South African fashion.

The exchange program included a dedicated and tailored mentorship by POLIMODA and the opportunity to showcase within the institutional setting of South Africa Fashion Week. The designers will meet fashion industries, trade associations, media, and companies to exchange experiences, knowledge, and creative styles.

Lezanne Viviers is a Johannesburg-based designer, founder and creative director of the sustainable, handcrafted clothing brand VIVIERS. However, Lezanne matriculated from PJ Oliver Art School in Stellenbosch, where she majored in sculpture. In 2010 she graduated from the Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion. Likewise, she became the creative director of the iconic South African fashion from 2015-2018. Since 2011, Lezanne, born in Cape, moved in Johannesburg.

“In an attempt to understand my identity as a white, South African woman. I began to use fashion as the language of activism and explore how we as humans could co-exist and interact through the language of love and unity as our primary source of communication. Creativity is an extrasensory awareness of just being. Being who you are, where you are, with whomever you are and trying to understand yourself better through your creative experiments. Curiosity feeds creativity, and that leads to me starting VIVIERS”.

Viviers’ collection reflects the spirit of South African fashion designers who are making waves on the international fashion scene. However, her designs are a testament to the creativity and skill of Milano fashion designers. Overall, the “KARROO Land of Thirst” collection is a fantastic showcase of Viviers’ talent in the South African fashion industry’s ability to produce world-class fashion.
