Exploring Tina Kotsoni’s 2025 Milan Handcrafted Stories in Jewellery.
1. Tina, Milan is a city of elegance. How do you connect that atmosphere with your own aesthetic?
My jewelry reflects boldness, authenticity, and deep emotion. I resonate with Milan’s elegance: Appreciation for detail and timelessness—qualities I aim to capture in every piece I create.
2. Which element of your work aligns most with Italian finesse?
The respect for craftsmanship. Italians understand that beauty lies in the details, and my jewelry reflects that same philosophy.
3. How has your journey as an artisan jeweler shaped the way you present yourself in Milan?
Authenticity always finds its place. In this city, people not only recognize it. They celebrate it.
4. If your career were a jewel, how would you describe it?
It would be a bold, handcrafted piece with asymmetry—beautiful in its imperfections and strong in its presence. Each creation is a unique expression of my vision and skill.
5. What is the biggest challenge in presenting Greek handmade design to an international audience?
Stay true to your roots while speaking a universal design language. The challenge lies in maintaining your identity while connecting with diverse cultures.
6. Which techniques do you love most, and why?
I love hammering and sculpting metals by hand. These techniques allow me to bring texture and life into each piece, making them feel organic and unique.
7. How do you combine different materials to achieve elegance and timelessness?
I let the material guide me. Silver, gold, and stones each have their own voice, and when combined thoughtfully, they create a harmonious unity in my work.
8. Can you tell us about a piece you consider your “personal masterpiece”?
A large coral-inspired jewel I designed in 2019. It symbolizes the strength and beauty of the sea, which is a constant source of inspiration. The organic shapes and vibrant colors of sea life have always fascinated me, and this piece is a testament to that fascination.
9. How does Greek nature and the sea enter the Italian fashion scene through your work?
Through organic forms, textures, and colors. The sea teaches me about fluidity, which translates into jewelry that feels alive—even in the refined streets of Milan.
10. How much time do you need to complete a unique jewel?
Sometimes days, sometimes weeks. Each piece demands its own rhythm, and I respect that process. It begins with a vision, a sketch, and a careful selection of materials. The crafting process involves meticulous attention to detail, from shaping the metal to setting the stones, until the piece finally comes to life.
11. If Milan were a material—gold, silver, or a gemstone—what would it be?
Gold. Timeless, luminous, and powerful, yet capable of subtle elegance.
12. What stands out most in the style of Italians?
Their ability to balance classic tailoring with effortless confidence. They do not just wear clothes; they embody them.
13. How do you see your jewelry “conversing” with both classic and avant-garde looks of Milan Fashion Week?
I design my jewelry to complement a wide range of styles. It can enhance a minimalist look or serve as the focal point of a bold statement, from the classic elegance showcased at Milan Fashion Week to the avant-garde looks that push the limits of design. My jewelry design is both timeless and versatile.
14. What does participating in an exhibition in Milan mean to you?
It represents dialogue—a chance to share my work with those who deeply value craftsmanship and design.
15. How do you feel representing Greece in a city considered the “heart” of fashion?
It’s an honor. I carry Aegina and Greece with me in every piece. Presenting them here feels like bridging two cultures of beauty.
16. Do you think Italian design culture shares commonalities with Greek design?
Absolutely. Both are deeply rooted in history, detail, and a profound love for the handmade, continuing the rich design traditions of our ancestors.
17. What inspires you about the relationship between Italy and Greece as centers of art and craft?
The dialogue between tradition and innovation. Both countries honor their past while creating for the future.
18. What message do you want to send to buyers and showrooms who will see your work for the first time here?
That every piece is unique. Handmade jewelry carries a story, and no two stories are ever the same.
19. How do you imagine the Italian fashion crowd embracing your jewelry?
I picture people wearing it with confidence as a form of individual expression. I imagine my pieces strutting through the streets of Milan, seamlessly blending with the city’s elegance and spirit.
20. If you had to choose one jewel to “represent” Greece in Milan, which would it be, and why?
The coral-inspired piece from 2019. It embodies the strength of the sea, the soul of Greece, and the timeless dialogue between nature and design.
