Discuss Fashion Style with Eleni Pismopoulou, CEO of OPTIKA PISMOPOULOU

We sat down with Eleni Pismopoulou, CEO of OPTIKA PISMOPOULOU to discuss Fashion Style. I wanted to know what inspired her to create her own eyewear business - and why this was the right moment to talk about optical design just before my visit to London Fashion Week Men's 9-12 June 2017.
Eleni's answers gave me a fresh look into the eyewear design and I really liked the shape, colors, weight and overall styles of sunglasses I wore in London.

Time to appreciate quality and real design

Personally speaking what I'm looking for is above all to appreciate quality and real design.Yes, I think that Men's style influences my daily dress code. When  I think of my daily life walking down the street, traveling, working, attending new fashion events, all of a sudden I realize that all I'm looking for is for style, original design, comfort ness and creative options for my street style.

I do believe that Style has to do with freedom to think, to choose and to do. That's my choice for my dress code at #LFWM 17. I'll totally agree with Eleni's Pismopoulou opinion about Fashion that we have to listen to our instinct.
Then be sure that is the best choice ever! Just BE INSPIRED!

Think-Feel-Discover: What made you decide to start your own eyewear business?
It's because I studied in Italy (optician-optometrist) and I was looking forward to starting my own business.

♦ Think-Feel-Discover: Tell me more about what makes you passionate about eyewear?
It's because, in a so tiny little piece, there is so art on it! Every time, I say:" I have seen everything in those 17 years of work" and every time that I am going to see new models, I'm very much surprised and I'm falling in love again with the new models.
I cannot believe how the designers can always design something different and fabulous. There is no limit to their new ideas and new designs.

♦ Think-Feel-Discover: What designers are you working with for your Spring/Summer 2017 season?
I adore choosing for my store the models of Miu-Miu ( of Miuccia Prada), of Dolce& Gabbana, of Burberry, of Tom Ford, of Dsquared and many others.

♦ Think-Feel-Discover: Which is your favorite pair of glasses and why?
It is not only one. I can't choose only one. I think that every time my favorite pair of glasses is the one that I wear at that moment but I'm sure that the next one that I'll see, will be better.

♦ Think-Feel-Discover: If you could use 3 words to describe your personal style, what would they be?
Colorful, smiley, romantic

Think-Feel-Discover: What new styles will you be showing for the upcoming Summer collection?
The thing that changes this year is that the sunglasses become bigger, orthogonal and thicker in celluloid. Not metal.

♦ Think-Feel-Discover: Do you remember what your first glasses were?
Yes, of course. I still have them. They are classic brown rounded from celluloid.

♦ Think-Feel-Discover:  Any quick tips on taking care of your sunglasses so they will last?
A: Always clean them only with the appropriate microfiber tissue to protect the lenses from scratches.
B: Don't ever let them in the car because of the high temperature that is developing and it destroys the lenses.

♦ Think-Feel-Discover: Which is the importance of Brand Name in the glasses quality?
Very important!!! It guarantees you that they have passed all the quality tests ( for UV protection, for non-allergic materials on our skins etc.)

♦ Think-Feel-Discover: How important is the price in choosing a pair of sunglasses?
The price is an index that shows you the quality and the origin of the product. Sunglasses with a cheap price have a cheap origin. Not authorized materials, without any quality controls and defective.
It's like wearing a dress with holes and made by nylon ( which smells awful). Sunglasses with a price over 100€ shows that there is quality at the factory and at the materials they use to make them

♦ Think-Feel-Discover: What do you look for when picking out a pair of sunglasses?
Every time,  I look for glasses different and not boring. Because, if it's boring to me, will be boring also for the clients.

♦ Think-Feel-Discover: How to pick out the perfect pair of sunglasses.
Find first schematically and then chromatically the pair that suits you the best.
Then, trust your instinct. You will feel it if it's the perfect pair for you.

♦ Think-Feel-Discover: Shares tips on looking good in your shades and tips on buying sunglasses.
Tip on looking good: Find the right shape and then a color harmonic to your skin.
Tip on buying sunglasses: Prefer handmade sunglasses and lenses that have antireflex treatment or polarized lenses.

♦ Think-Feel-Discover: Who is the Optika Pismopoulou customer?
I think that they are people who dare to wear something new and different and people who trust me on this selection.

♦ Think-Feel-Discover: What is Fashion for you?
Fashion for me is to wear, not what they all wear, but what looks good on you. If we listen to our instinct, that is the right choice. That choice will be impressive, chic and fashionable!
